Kubernetes (aka K8s) is a Cloud-Native open source orchestration Platform to run containers. It is a comprehensive and complex product which makes running container applictions very easy. Kubernetes has a worldwide eco-system of plugins, operators, solutions and community.
For simplicity, Kubernetes can be best seen as an Operating System for containers, where an OS can be compared to Linux or Windows server, and a container can be compared to an application.
Underneath, Kubernetes manages one or more Linux servers (called Nodes) where the containers are actually run.
Kubernetes is an architectural style with a track record. At its heart Kubernetes uses containers as the best for of application packaging. A container is a self-contained file which includes everything that an application requires including the application itself. This makes it much easier to develop, scale, distribute and automate software development.
Kubernetes also solves many other problems like scaling, persistence, certificate automation, network rules, CICD automation, lifecycle management and upgrades, and it supports Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Since both containers and Kubernetes are open-source, Kubernetes provides an exit-strategy without a lock-in.
In the complex world of cloud (and Kubernetes), we provide Simplicity.
